Capital Facilities Plan Update
CAPITAL FACILITIES PLAN UPDATE
The City of Yelm invites your comments and participation in the Capital Facilities Plan update.
The Growth Management Act requires that the City’s Comprehensive Plan include a Capital Facilities Chapter to establish goals and policies related to the current and future infrastructure needs of the community. The Act also requires that the Capital Facilities element of the Comprehensive Plan include a short term and long term project list, identifying all the capital facilities needs, cost, and funding sources.
The Yelm Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 2017. Since that time, many of the capital facilities plans have been updated.
The draft updated table of Capital Facilities projects can be found here: CFP Draft Update.
The updated table was presented to the Yelm Planning Commission at their regularly scheduled meeting Monday, July 20, 2020.
The Commission will hold a virtual public hearing and accept public comment on August 17, 2020. After review and consideration of comments, the Planning Commission will propose any changes and forward the document to the Yelm City Council for adoption in September 2020. The update includes projects from:
- Water System Plan (2009)
- Transportation Plan (2009)
- General Sewer Plan (2016)
- Stormwater Management Plan (2016)
- Parks Plan and Recreation Plan (2017)
- Downtown Transportation Strategy (2019)
The Capital Facilities list includes updated cost projections, new projects from new and updated plans, and redistributed projects from between the 10 year and 20 year planning horizon.
The Planning Commission presented this draft at its regular meeting, 4 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2020 virtually via Zoom meeting. A public hearing is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2020.
Comments will be received up to and at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted to email@example.com, or mailed to City of Yelm Community Development Department, 106 2nd Street SE, Yelm, WA 98597
Following public input, the Commission’s final draft update will be brought forward to City Council with the recommendation of adoption. City Council will vote to approve or deny these proposals at a regular Council meeting. All meetings are open to the public and are streamed live on the City of Yelm YouTube channel.
