
JW Foster was appointed to be Mayor in August of 2016 after the resignation of the previous Mayor.
Mayor Foster had been serving on the City Council since 2011 and had served on the Planning Commission since 2006.

The Yelm City Council represents the needs and interests of the citizens of Yelm. The seven-member Council establishes policy for the city, adopts the annual budget, and represents Yelm's interest on regional boards and commissions.
The Yelm Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the Yelm Public Safety Building, 206 McKenzie Street SE. The public is encouraged to attend all meetings and each agenda dedicates time at the beginning for public comments, questions, or concerns. Current and previous meetings can be viewed online.
