The City is Seeking Public Comment on the 2022 Transportation Plan
Transportation System Plan 2022 Update
THE CITY OF YELM PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT IS SEEKING COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM PLAN 2022 UPDATE.
What is a Transportation System Plan?
The Transportation System Plan (TSP) is the long-range guiding document that directs transportation planning in the City of Yelm for a 20-year horizon. The Transportation System Plan serves to identify areas of concern in our transportation system as the City grows, create projects that will address current and future issues, and map out funding sources that will be used to carry out improvement projects. This plan also outlines the City’s long-term transportation visions and creates specific projects from the goals of the Transportation element of the Comprehensive Plan.
What to look out for:
The TSP includes the Transportation Improvement Program, a list of recommended transportation projects for the City of Yelm for the next 20 years. This plan is updated eight years to reflect projected travel demand and any system deficiencies. The Thurston Regional Planning Council transportation model through 2045 and City of Yelm land use forecasts were used to identify future travel conditions in Yelm.
Projects include intersection improvements such as roundabouts, pedestrian improvements such as trails and sidewalks, street improvements such as adding a bike lane or repaving, and new street connections.
