Arbor Day

Arbor Day
Arbor Day is a celebration in coordination with Lacey, Yelm’s sister city where mayors of both cities exchange a tree. The event is held on the last Friday in April at Yelm City Park and recognizes the artistic and musical talents of our local students. Yelm has been recognized by the Washington Department of Natural Resources and the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City since 1997 and is now home to one of the largest Arbor Day celebrations in the State. The city must have a Tree Advisory Board, a written proclamation, and an observation of Arbor Day.
