It is the City's first public park and is the centerpiece of Yelm.  The park stays busy entertaining families year-round and is host to many community-wide events, including the 'Annual Jazz Festival' and 'Christmas in the Park.'  The picnic areas, located at the park are also available for

The park has received several improvements over the last few years, including the Yelm Community Center, electric car charging stations, and a new irrigation system that keeps the field watered and maintained throughout the year. Construction on the new playground and splash pad was completed, with the playground ready for play in late-June. The splash pad at Yelm City Park will open as soon as the Thurston County Health Department conducts a preoperational inspection to ensure chlorine and other chemical levels are safe for recreation.

TrailHeadThe Yelm-Tenino/ Prairie Line Trail
The Yelm-Tenino/ Prairie Line Trail is a paved, pedestrian and bicycle path that begins on Yelm Avenue and travels through agricultural areas, forests, and wetlands before reaching the end point in Centralia. The Yelm-Tenino trail spans 14 miles while the 21-Mile Chehalis Western Trail intersects at the midpoint of the Yelm-Tenino Trail. The Chehalis Western Trail uses the same route of the Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. railroad, used to haul logs off for shipment in the mid-19th Century. The trail system currently links every major town in Thurston County and future extension will cross the Nisqually River into Roy.
